Chronic pain can come with it's own mental health challenges. The persistence of pain can lead to depression, anxiety, irritability and agitation. Pain and depression or anxiety develop into a cycle. As the pain increases, the depression/anxiety increases, leading to an increase in pain, and so on. Often, chronic pain and mental health challenges go hand-in-hand. As much as possibly 75% of people experiencing chronic pain also suffer from moderate to severe depression.
